Amanda Sand

Library Consultant

Amanda Sand is a leading voice in intellectual freedom, ensuring libraries remain spaces of open access and diverse perspectives. She has spent years providing hands-on support to library workers confronting book bans, program challenges, and threats to access. Drawing on her deep expertise and strategic approach, Amanda equips library professionals with essential tools to defend the right to read.

With 15 years of public library experience in both municipal and district libraries across Iowa—including nine years in public library administration and board relations—Amanda brings a deep understanding of the challenges library leaders face. She has spent a decade developing continuing education opportunities for library staff, administrators, and boards, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources needed to navigate an evolving landscape. Her background in education, with an undergraduate degree in the field and a Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, further strengthens her ability to design impactful training and advocacy strategies.

A dynamic speaker and experienced trainer, Amanda empowers libraries and educational institutions to navigate today's pressing challenges. From responding to material challenges to preparing for future threats, she serves as a trusted ally in protecting information access for all.
